A SUPERIOR SMALL-BATCH TASMANIAN DRY GIN
Hobart No.4 is a Tasmanian Dry Gin enriched with four native Australian botanicals – lemon myrtle, anise myrtle, lanceolata & wattleseed. The original gins of the 17th, 18th and 19th Century were made using malted barley spirit but this practice was lost over as more efficient distillation methods were developed, often at the expense of quality. An often overlooked fact of modern Gin making is that the spirit is just as important as the botanicals. The spirit provides the body, the vehicle to transport the delicate herb, spice, fruit and floral notes and essences, and crucially, to provide mouthfeel. Tasmania Distillery produces some of the best malted barley spirit in the world and that’s why we make our Gin using the exact same malt spirit that we use to make our famous world class whiskies. It lends our Gin a weight, body and character that you’ll recogonise and appreciate from the first sip.
NOSE: Bright lemon, fresh pine needles, white pepper, malt spice
PALATE: Herbaceous with notes of cracked peppercorns, orange peel, grapefruit, vanilla, liquorice
FINISH: Cloves & cinnamon give way to a slightly sweet malty smooth and long finish
